Following the release of our October Investor Update earlier in the month, we’re now almost into winter. Plenty has been happening across our business and the portfolio, including milestones being hit and many of our companies being ranked on BusinessCloud’s Top 50 sector lists. Here’s a rundown of November’s highlights…
Four accolades for Praetura at the prestigious Growth Investor Awards
Praetura has been crowned the industry’s Best Up and Coming EIS Manager following this year’s Growth Investor Awards in Mayfair, London, where we were also presented with the award for Most Impactful Regional Investment for our backing of Leeds-based XR Games. On one of the biggest nights in our industry, our impressive Marketing Team was also named official runner-up in the Team of the Year category, with a runner-up prize also awarded to us for Emerging BR Investment Manager (Unlisted).
Inotec, Percayso, BankiFi and wi-Q named high finishers on BusinessCloud’s annual Top 50 ranking lists
Inotec has topped the MedTech50 list for 2023, coming first in the annual ranking, which is voted for by the public and a panel of independent judges. Elsewhere, the FinTech50 top 10 was also dominated by our Praetura portfolio companies, with wi-Q and BankiFi finishing fifth and seventh respectively. Finally, we were also delighted to see Percayso come third in the InsurTech50 list. You can see all the lists in full via the BusinessCloud website.

Sifted, the FT-backed startup and VC publication, has named Praetura on its list of the most active investors outside of London, Cambridge and Oxford. Using data from Dealroom, Sifted name-checked our 15 deals completed in 2023, including investments into newcomers Decently and Sprout AI. The Sifted feature, which you can read here, also mentions our portfolio companies Peak, Modern Milkman and Patchwork, who are each doing fantastic work in their respective fields.
Aerocloud wins a trio of accolades at the UK Business Tech Awards and Prolific North Tech Awards
Aerocloud has had a very successful month after scooping not one but three awards for its innovative work, which is driving efficiencies, revenue and all-round better customer experiences in airports. Aerocloud won silver at the UK Business Tech Awards before following up this achievement with awards for SaaS Business of the Year and Best Use of AI at the Prolific North Tech Awards. Congratulations to the entire Aerocloud team on this brilliant feat!
Futr joins UK businesses on trade trip to Australia
Futr was one of a number of businesses to join the ‘UK in Australia’ trade trip down under, where teams learnt all about the Australian tech landscape and ecosystem. Hosted by Invest Victoria, the event saw numerous talks and discussions from businesses and culminated in a panel on digital transformation, with Bupa, AWS and the University of Melbourne among the participants.

Yasar Ahmad, who is responsible for a 200-strong team across HelloFresh, spoke about the need to be a fast follower rather than an early adopter and why the talent acquisition process needs to change to better accommodate a new generation of job seekers. Decently claim innovation accolade at Acquired Brain Injury fundraiser
Decently, one of our newest portfolio additions, was awarded the 2023 Mike Barnes Innovation Award at a fundraising dinner for the UK Acquired Brain Injury Forum. The award is in recognition of Decently’s work with Dr Alistair Teager and his team at the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust, which has been piloting Decently’s Melo platform. Created by founders James Chapman and James Burch, Melo helps clinicians to track the behaviour of patients on acquired brain injury wards for patient and staff safety, replacing largely manual data capture.
